Jan/June, 2003 - a collection of sights from the first half of 2003 Hawes, a sleepy little village snoring peacefully in the bosom of the Penine chain.. high into the cloud line. Rudely awakened for a season of tourism - hikers mainly. There are several craft shows held in the village hall during the tourist season. We attended a couple of them but didn't really fit in with the shows. Hawes itself, and the surrounding countryside was chockablock with newborn fluffies and welcoming flower baskets. As luck has it, we often have occasion to drive through this gorgeous scenery en route to and fro other shows and it remains truly breathtaking - regardless of the season. The second set of fotos were taken at nearby Aysgarth Falls, on one of the rare days that we actually had the time to stop and look. Well worth it. |
